2008 Junior Rebels

What Made the News in 2008…

The Rebels had a rough third season, only managing one victory and finishing out of the playoffs with a 1-15-0 record. Injuries and unavailability of the previous season’s top scorers, coupled with the loss of key veterans due to graduation, led to a significant drop in scoring which ultimately was the undoing of the team in 2008. Spencer Wolfe led team scoring with 8 goals and 16 assists, while 2007 leading scorer Curt Callard finished in second place with 14 goals and 7 assists in only 6 games played.

With the graduation of Rashad Dean and Justin Lamb, the Rebels were without a goaltender heading into the season. The Intermediate Rebels loaned Jarence Purvis to the Junior Rebels, with both teams starting the season with one goalie each. The Juniors subsequently recruited Jesse Partridge as a backup, with Purvis taking on the bulk of the load and finishing with a 77.1% save percentage in 14 appearances and Partridge posting a 72.7% save percentage in 15 appearances.
