What Made the News in 2011…

The 2011 season proved to be the most frustrating in the five year history of the Surrey Rebels, as the team went winless over 18 games in BC Intermediate Lacrosse B League play.  We would like to again thank all of its volunteers, sponsors, fans and the Surrey Lacrosse Association for enduring a second consecutive non-playoff season and continuing their support.

Although there were times where it looked as though we were going to break through, something always seemed to get in the way, be it ill-timed penalties, fluke goals, injuries or player shortages in key positions.  Our final record was 0-18-0, a franchise low.  Individual highlights included Madison Loos finishing tied for 25th in league scoring with 30 points and Joey Puchmayr finishing 16th in league goaltending with a save percentage of 81.5%.

I would like to thank our head coach, Cameron Fielding, his assistant coaches Marcus Kearney and Braden Wilkins and our team manager Shari Millen for their tireless efforts.  We will be graduating 13 players from our program (Puchmayr, Loos, Zach Heit, Steven Munro, Ryan Millen, Jacob Alger, Jerrod Sidhu, Riley Williams, Nathanael Meyerhoff, Kyle Clarke, Richard Dorosh, Kurtis Jahntz and Matthew Hein) and expect most to be out at Junior Rebels training camp in 2012 vying for the vacant roster spots.  We expect most of the remaining Intermediate players to be back for the 2012 season and hope that the majority of graduating Midget players will be out at training camp.

I would like to express my thanks again to Dennis Ewen and the SLA Executive for their continued support of senior programs.  This was the final season for Christine and I with the SLA after 14 seasons, the past five with the Intermediate Rebels after founding the program in 2007, as our son graduates from junior to pursue other senior lacrosse endeavours.  We are pleased to announce that Toni Belich will be taking over the reins as Governor/General Manager of the Intermediate Rebels for 2012 and know that she will do an excellent job.

Frank Geyer, Governor/General Manager – Surrey Rebels Intermediate Lacrosse Club (2011)
